07/09/2018 Update for all downloaders. I reduced the number of polygons so that the model is downladable. I corrected the holes, the lips, and the nose which is now more semitic like the original. I lack of good pictures of this mask, so if you have some, PM me. I still have the fine model of 356 megs. I will correct the ears this month. It is now printable with easy3d, repetier, icesl and simplify. and now a version with clever supports wich allow fast printing without supports generated automatically.
I saw the errors described in the comments and i'm refining the model. The original model is made with lightwave which is not a good software for printing. i am currently refining it with sculptris with a lot more polygons. Currently the new definitive model is too large for thingiverse (357 megas)so i have to simlify polygons despite it is printable. i will post a new version as soon as possible. The only way to print is the nose upwards and it works with simplify. Anyway i will have to add a splitted model so it can be printable full size even on llittle printers like mine.
The model is currently remodeled, with the complete head and refined hair texture according to the indications from the helmet of meskalamdung.
I dedicate my account to the valorisation of art pieces ,in danger, destructed or underestimated, rarely shown or not avaiable in 3d.
The Sargon mask of the akkadian king is dated 2334–2284 BC, this means it was approximately 5000 years from us . Unfortunately , the Us-Army let the robbers and islamists destruct it in pieces in 2003. Only some pictures remains and the only negatives remaining are in a low format. no 4x5 inches negative exists. This model has been made with photogrametry. the model was just a help for reconstructing it with imagine3d and finalised with lightwave 3d.
