This is an adaptor to hook up the hose from a Dyson vacuum cleaner into a Craftsman belt sander. I'm not sure if Dyson or Craftsman standardized their connectors among their different models, but if they didn't, this is specific to Dyson DC25 and Craftsman Sander model CMEW213.
The idea is to have the vacuum cleaner suck all the dust as you operate the sander. This is not a new idea, but I couldn't find an adapter for my specific vacuum cleaner and sander models.
The adapter attaches to where the dust bag for the sander goes. With a vacuum cleaner actively sucking the dust and having a bigger bag, you get more dust captured and not have to empty the bag frequently.
