I wanted to increase my overall printing speed but i was unable to find any test that will show me when I went to far on settings.
So I created this one, it prints fast, uses low material and shows what I think are most signs of speed excess.
Things that govern overall speed:
Acceleration, speed rate of change
Jerk, speed "jumps" for short movements
Speed, this is actually max speed.
First make sure your belts are well tighten, if you don´t know how, google it.
Also, chek that all your printer is well tighten, all bolts and nuts.
It will be a good time to check that your bed and carriage roon smoothly, again google.
I your printer has EPROM enabled you can change accel and jerk from Control-Motion
If not you will need to modify your firmware, for marlin 1.1.8 in Configuration.h
Jerk:
define DEFAULT_XJERK 20.0
define DEFAULT_YJERK 20.0
Accel:
define DEFAULT_ACCELERATION 1200
Also you will need to configure speed from firmware
Other thing you may need to change is temperature, I ended up printing at 235°C, to be able to reach 120mm/s
You should look for layer miss aligning and ghosting, also missing layers and extruder skipped steps.
Also you may notice that when you print too fast your prints will loss gloss. If you overstrech with speed you may endup lossing layer adhesion.
In my case with my crappy but heavly moded geeetech prusa, I went from:
60mm/s printing and 80mm/s travel
20 Jerk
1000 accel
to:
120mm/s printing and 150mm/s travel.
30 Jerk
2000 accel
Print quality decreased a bit but print time went down by about 40% for large prints.
Now the problem is noise jajajajja
