This 1000 -seat movie palace was one of 7 Saenger Theatres built in the south around 1929. It contains features of both Neo-Classical Revival and Art Deco architectural styles. Its doors were closed in the 1960's and was given to the City of Hattiesburg. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and renovated in 2000, restoring the theater and its 778-pipe Organ to much of its original grandeur.
