Rotary Axis for Laser Engraver
This mechanism will help in working with a laser engraver when processing of cylindrical surfaces is required. It is connected instead of the motor along the Y-axis. After that, it is necessary to make adjustments to the steps per mm in the settings of the GRBL controller so that the engraving geometry remains correct. I tried to make this device as low as possible so that the work was comfortable. The stepper motor is used byNema 14, its dimensions are35x35 mm, this is the height of the device itself. I used the same engines in the project of the laser engraver itself, with which, perhaps, you have already managed to get acquainted. Just in case, a link to the project and in the same place links to its modifications -https://go.like-it.link/ESOmq To use this rig, the laser engraver must be mounted much higher than it is used for flat surfaces. For example, you can cut cubes from a block of wood of the required height or put objects under the legs of the machine that will be convenient for you to work with. I am sure that you will cope with this task even without my instructions. Also added to this design is the adjustment of the distance between the drive shafts, which allows the processing of cylindrical surfaces of different diameters. Adjustment is carried out using handles that move the slider of one of the shafts inside the side struts. At first I wanted to make the cover of the slider compartment removable, but this entailed many technical difficulties associated primarily with dimensions, and in the end I decided to install it on glue. After all, no special service is required there. Unless it can be lubricated with a special Teflon grease, which does not have an aggressive effect on plastic, but for this operation there is access through the slot.Installation diagram of support bushings:I also want to draw your attention to the design of the locks, which are used to fix the tubes connecting the side bases. I have used such locks more than once, and they seemed to me very convenient. For example, they are also used in the construction of a tumbling machine -https://go.like-it.link/yYM3S . The principle of this connection has long been known, and I did not invent it. It is based on wedging inside the pipe when the screw is clamped. I'm sure everything is clear in the picture. But if you wish, you can simply glue it with epoxy. And yes, this rig can be used with almost any other laser engraver, and the length of the structure itself can also be lengthened as needed. I made the dimensions that I needed. In general, go for it!Parts links below:NEMA 14 Stepper motor 0.9 degree * betterNEMA 14 stepper motor 1.8 degree GT2 Timing Pulley 2GT16 W6 B5 3pcsClosed Loop Timing Belt 2GT 6mm L228(max232)mmAluminum Round Tube OD 8mm ID 6mm, length at your discretion, my version is 2x206mm304 Shaft Linear D 5mm, length at your discretion, my version is 2x225mmBearing MR85ZZ 5x8x2.5 mm 4pcsO-Ring 9x4x2.5mmThreaded Rod M3Hexagon Socket Button Head Screw M3: 4x25mm, 4x12-14mmFlat Washers M3Self-locking Nut M3Insert Nut M3Insert Knurled Nuts M3Lubricant for Plastic Gear XY-2 if you want (better)JST PH 2.0/XH2.54 Connector Set The controller has XH2.54 connectors for some Ph2.0 motorsCorrugated Tube 7x5mm if you wantLinks to used tools:Angle grinder Vise for CNC Small NOGA deburring tool and Blades Color Screwdriver Kit Hexagon Super Glue 502 AB Glue Epoxy Glue T9000 Required files:rotary-axis-for-laser-engraver.zip My favorites: Thank you for every tip or donation,it means great recognition for me and helps a lot to keep going!
