After many struggles with flexible filament on my Rostock Max Bowden printer, I've come up with the best and easiest solution i've come across.
I found that the filament keeps curling up inside the pneumatic push-fit coupler, which has a 2.4mm inside diameter. Therefore I've designed this easy modification to ensure the inner diameter from extruder all the way to the nozzle is nowhere larger than 2mm.
Follow these steps:
First order a E3D embedded bowden coupler: http://e3d-online.com/Embedded-Bowden-Couplings-For-Metal-1.75mm-Filament
Print this thing.
Drill the small hole with a 2 mm drill to ensure a smooth interior. (you may drill the outer hole with a 8mm drill if the bowden coupling doesn't fit)
Apply this modification: http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=5298
Replace the aluminum bowden adapter with this printed one.
Push the embedded bowden coupler into this printed bowden adapter.
Push your bowden tube into the embedded bowden coupler.
Then print all the ninjaflex and semiflex you want without failure!
I've succesfully printed at 25mm/s, about half of the normal PLA print speed. You can also play around with retraction with this modification, no worries about jamming or curling anymore! Normal materials also print perfectly with this mod so you don't need to switch extruders when changing filaments.
