The intent and motivation for this design concept was to provide a design that was structurally sound while maintaining the aesthetic of similar pieces of equipment that can be found for fishing, and in the outdoor sports and water sports market. The design also takes into consideration new innovative manufacturing processes such as 3D printing so that all the parts were designed to be easily 3D printed, however the preferred method of manufacturing would be injection molded recycled plastic, recycled rubber for the rubber components.

Design ethos: structurally strong, robust, 3D printable

Budget spectrum: High end, the design will obviously require a large capital investment if injection molding is to be pursued as a manufacturing method however the unit is designed in such a way as to minimize the number of molds required by using duplicate parts. Although seemingly complex, there would be only 9 major parts requiring molding.

Materials: Recycled plastic injection pellets, recycled car tire rubber

Details on manufacturing:

The idea would be to injection mold most of the components; the rubber pads could be integrated in the molding process or could be added after into recesses designed into the clamps. All metal inserts, as seen on the rotational knobs would be set in during the molding process.

Dimensional specs:

Rough dimensions of the base unit are 10Lx4Wx6H
base unit with rod holders 10LX17WX9H (if the carrier
holder is too long at 17" it can easily be redesigned short)

acceptable rod diameters, smallest rod available up to 1.7" diameter rods.
