Project summary:

This is another Rong Fu RF30 mill/drill conversion. I searched the internet and found lots of pictures and got some ideas from some of them, but could not find any drawings or dimensions. Since I only have the one mill, I dis-assembled, measured, assembled, machined, etc. These are the main parts required for the conversion. The final measurements may require slight adjustments.

Purchased components:

X Axis - 2 51101 Thrust bearings, 1 6200-2RS radial bearing, SFU 1605 ball screw and nut
Y Axis - 2 51101 Thrust bearings, SFU 1605 ball screw and nut and purchased ball nut housing
Z Axis - Did not use a lead screw, kept the original ring/pinion - rack/pinion design with a gas spring to take the backlash out of the quill

Nema 24 high torque, dual shaft stepper motors for all 3 axis, drivers and power supply
Arduino Uno R3, GRBL control

Flexible spider couplings

Suspa C16-09209 C1609209, 16" Gas Spring, Force 38 Lbs
