This assault cruiser (of my) design is a formidable opponent for any adversary. It has well-rounded abilities, with its compact design allowing for more efficient shield distribution and better manoeuvrability. The lack of vulnerable command tower improves defence, but makes sensing ships behind the drive emissions much more difficult. Its armament consists of 9 fixed dual turbolaser batteries and 4 dorsal heavy guns. This allows it to bring an incredible amount of firepower to bear from almost any direction. The sheer size and power of these guns makes up for any disadvantage the Renewal-class may have in numbers of batteries. Of course, these guns use tremendous amounts of energy and can be slow to recharge if the ship has to fend off multiple opponents. When it comes to point defence though, the Renewal-class comes into its own. Its 30 rapid fire laser turrets scattered around the hull can put up a hailstorm of protection from enemy fighters and missiles. This cruiser is also competent at fighter deployment and acting as a mobile command centre. Its standard complement of 2 squadrons gives the vessel brilliant versatility. In addition, the ventral docking area provides somewhere for transports and larger ships to dock, while the nose hangar allows for rapid fighter deployment in combat, at a place with a narrow cross-section so as to provide maximum protection for the pilots. #assault #cruiser #Renewal #star_destroyer
