The neotropical Yellow Toad (incilius luetkenii) is an amazing species of toad that has a very interesting breeding behaviour that occurs when the first big rains of the year fall in it's dry-forest habitat in Central America. The males turn from dull grayish browns to bright lemon yellows and gather by the hundreds in temporary pools created by the rainfalls. As female toads show up, the males fight each-other to secure positions on the female's backs in a position known as amplexus.
The model of a male yellow toad was originally created for research purposes from a combination of scan data (from a real living toad) and modeling data using zbrush.
This low resolution version has been scaled down to 1/3 scale to allow for quick and easy printing. It also functions as a very cool test to see what kind of details your printer is capable of spitting out.
