One of our engineers is in the Timbers Army, and all of us like cookies. So we made this cookie cutter. (We took some liberties with the axe to get a star on there, too!)
To finish this plunger-style cookie cutter, you'll need to epoxy a 3/32" rod to the plunger and knob, and you'll need to capture a small spring in there, too. We recycled the spring from an old ballpoint pen. You can also hack-in a section of coat hanger instead of that rod. We're not trained chefs, bakers, or food safety experts, so we washed the whole thing in vodka before we used it. Not sure if that's necessary, but the cookies were excellent and we're still alive. Mission accomplished!
RCcookieTID recipe:
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup soft butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
These ingredients make about 30 cookies. Mix the butter and sugar. Add and mix the eggs and vanilla. Slowly add and mix small portions of the flour, baking powder, and salt until it's all in there. Stick the dough in the fridge overnight. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Roll the dough 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface. Add flour to the top of the dough and/or inside the cutter to prevent sticking while cutting! Make sure the cookies are one inch apart on an un-greased cookie sheet. Bake for eight minutes. Allow the cookies to cool, and add icing to taste. Decorating takes something away from the details of the stamped axe and star, so don't lay it on too thick!
