I needed a second chassis for my Hong Kong Jeep JK Body (275mm Wheelbase). Not for heavy crawling but for onroad and a little bit of offroad activities. Here you can see how it performs with the cantilever-style suspension: https://youtu.be/d3j2n3TugSI
Because of many new and additional Ideas I put this Thing "under construction".
Usually I only publish finshed and working parts but it I think it gives you a little bit more orientation. Just look at the Last Updates....
I made a new body Suzuki SJ 410 for 275mm wheelbase. It should work with one of the flat setups in the rear. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2956295
Last Update: 21-04-2018 (Details see below)
I used some second hand rails and copied them. Later I saw that they are made by Karnegie in the US (SSR V2). Some modifications are made to fit the Jeep body and the motor mount. The gear reducer unit can be found here http://www.rcmodelex.com/www-rcmodelex-com/eshop/18-1-Transmissions/0/5/1080-MEX-G-BOX-7-4-1-BLACK-5mm
The servo is in the rails so that a lot of axles can be used. I tried it with RC4WD Yota II Clones, Axial SCX10 II Clones and MST CMX axles.
There are three different Versions for the Transmission:
A - Simple 1:1 Transmission together with an RC Modelex Gear Reducer > See Pictures
B - RC4WD R2 Transmission
D - Axial SCX10 Transmission
Updates:
2019-07-25
I added a File (Jeep JK Partlist for Chassis.pdf) that shows the parts you need for the chassis in different Versions.
2018-04-21
I made a replacement for the two types of back braces (AB_Final_Jeep_JK_Back_Brace.stl or AB_Final_Jeep_JK_Back_Brace_deep.stl). The new one allows you to store a 2S Lipo (104x34x14mm) above the rear axle only using 2 splints. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2872480
2018-04-20
Added new rails to use it with the MST CFW motor mount kit. They are wider in the middle and have differnt holes so that you can use the Kit from MST. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2870520
2018-04-18
The front motor mount with Axial transmission is now tested and works fine. It is not that easy to put the body on the chassis but with a little bit of patience it will work fine.
It is mounted with M3 screws to the rails.
There is also a new baseplate of the back suspension for flatbed so that you can use shorter springs.
2018-04-14
The Rails for the new suspension are now added as E_Final_Jeep_JK_Left or Right_Flatbed. There is also a little pipe to make it more rigid.
2018-04-11
A new kind of suspension / shock mount on rear axle added eg. for flatbed Pickups.https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2857188
2018-02-05
Version D:
Added a Front Motor Mount for the Axial SCX10 Standard Transmission (eg. this one https://tamico.de/Axial-AX30487-Getriebe-Starr-Locked-AX10-SCX10). It is an improved Remix of one of my own Designs https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2588587
It offers space for an ESC and a Receiver (if you want to mount it close to the ESC)
2018-02-04
1) For the ESC (Hobbywing 1080 30x35mm) and Receiver (24x52mm) I made two Boxes to store them away (not waterproof).
2) To place the Battery under the Backseats I lowered the back Brace (as low as Possible withe my Setup (Cantilever and CMX-Axle)).
3) To make it more rigid I added to Files that make that keep the distance between Body and Chassis. The front-one also provides space for some wires.
2018-01-25
I added a front Mount for the JK Body that uses the stock mounting holes.
2018-01-22
2 more front Rails uploaded. These rails have more holes to mount the shocks. So you can use longer ones or bring the body lower. Helpful if you use it togeher with the cantilever suspension.
2018-01-18
Uploaded 2 additional Rear Rails for Version A because for 313mm Wheelbase the last hole of the Shockmount is needed. I cuted it off to make the JK Body fit with no modifications.
2018-01-13:
After an Info from FourDogs that the rails have to be bent if you use Version A. I added to new Files with a reduced width:
Motor Mount:73.5 mm to 70.1 mm
Servo Mount:69 mm to 67 mm
2018-01-05: Update for a different Suspension (see link below)
C - Rear Rails for a Cantilever-Style-Suspension
The STL-Files are marked A,B,C and AB; AB means you need it for all Versions.
If you use Option C you also need the AB Parts
With the body mount (better print in PETG because of flexibility) you can easyly clip the body and chassis togehter. The clip needs two M3 10-16mm screws and stock holes of the body.
You might want to strenghen the Chassis. That e.g. can be done with the SCX10 brace parts. Most of them fit. Since 2018-04-02 you also can use the parts I made to make the Chassis more rigid.
If you make a chassis pls. let me know and show it as a "make" and if there are parts to be improved let men know. For me ist working fine at the moment :-)
