Started from the inspiration of Don Urban and his 11 years old son Max Urban, whom design his own spacer for a Razor MX500, I start to follow his foot step. If a 11 years old can do it, I can do it too.
After creating the spacer to tighten up the fork, I have this crazy idea to try to make this toy fork with real fluid dampening. My requirement is that it should be bolt-on, it should be reversible to original, it should be cheap enough that the modification won't out-cost the bike itself, and it should be easily done with some basic tools no more than servicing a razor required.
I end up with this design. a pair of 3D print valves, spacers and c-clips. with two oil seal per fork leg, the cost is well below $60.
Testing has not been done thoroughly yet. So far, 6 port is basically wide open with 10w oil. 3 ports give a little bit resistance but not much. 2 ports.. haven't test out yet. All will have improved dampening with thicker oil such as 20w or 30w (which I also haven't test yet).
WARNING: this is development in progress. I have only bench tested with 10w fork oil. road test is nothing more than rolling the bike in my basement. Road test will not be executed until winter is over.
