An extension for the catch funnel for the Ambient Weather WS-280 tipping bucket rain gauge.http://www.ambientweather.com/amws2080rg.html. Adapted from the part shown by https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:381187. This version was modified to so it can be inserted into the interior of the funnel (press fit) for an easier and more secure installation. A few drops of super glue is recommended to keep the extension from blowing off in high winds.
This low-cost tipping bucket gauge is very popular with DIY weather stations. However, the catch funnel is very shallow and raindrops can splash out during a heavy downpour - causing an underestimate of precipitation. This 3D-printed extension helps reduce splash-out errors.
