The queensbrook Hotel was looking for a site to build a massive hotel on it 1975 the plan was lodged and it was approved in march that same year the tower was built in 1980 it had Replaced the old Claremont hotel built in 1853 that was imploded in 1978,make way for this glass tower which now is the best example of 1980's Glass Skyscrapers. The building rose high above the Fairmont area as the first all glass tower in harrisburg. It was the tallest all hotel tower in Harrisburg up until the completion of the Winthrop formerly the Americana hotel built in 1989 Only 34 Blocks Away. Also in 2002 and again in 2009 it had a rooms refurbishment and the Restaurant Had an upgrade including a New light fixture in the lobby . it is the only Glass box on the riverside in Harrisburg city that Stands out. it is owned by Queensbrook hotels international.and it Survived the 1982 floods and it Has pictures of the water in the lobby and had an extensive clean up mostly with all the mud the hotel lost some of the furniture in the lobby including the lamps and Wall fixtures. Also it has the biggest lobby in the city of Harrisburg itself and it still has its 1980 built Porte Cohere that has never Been altered. with an indoor fountain that they had since the hotel opened in 1980 and it has been restored ever since. Its appearance is based on the desert inn Augusta tower built in 1978 when it had a glass mirrored exterior that lasted to when desert inn became the Sheraton desert inn in las Vegas that has ever since been demolished when it got replaced by the Wynn las Vegas on October 31 2001.this building is one of the many buildings that they use from 1999 as one of the firing locations for the new years eve in Harrisburg.
