**This was an incredibly difficult model to make. The original STO model has lots of subtle curves in places you wouldn't ordinarily expect and as a result i'm almost certain the saucer section has a lot of small inaccuracies. EDIT: I revised the scale based on screenshots from STO comparing the Gallant-Class Refit to this. I upped the scale to 230 meters, just 10 meters longer than some estimates for the Nova and a smidge smaller than the screenshots from STO imply. Also added the ablative armor from my other Quaser-Class model into this one as an additional layer. Named for the distant galaxies that are the most luminous objects in the universe, the Quasar class along with It's sisterships, the Nova, Rhode Island, and Aurora-Classes all act as short range research or scientific vessels for tasks within the Federation's borders. The Quasar-Class is the most advanced of the trio. It is equipped with 'warp fins' which allow it to generate an asynchronous warp field that propels the vehicle at speeds exceeding warp 13. This advancement somewhat defies the 'short range' aspect of it's class and as a result Quasar-Class vessels have become a much more common sight as patrol ships or relief vessels. Additionally the Quasar-Class was also one of the first starfleet vessels to include exterior holographic emitters from it's inception. These holo-emitters are able to project holographic ships to aid the Quasar in combat or also disguise the ship within a holographic cocoon. Despite these advanced features the Quasar had a limited complement of weaponry- only three torpedo launchers in total and /just/ enough phaser banks to cover all angles of attack. This meant that Captains commanding Quasars into battle needed ingenuity and guile to be successful. Captain Lena Blavich of the USS Calvin Coolidge had her Quasar-Class modified to emit a 'coherent graviton cannon' from the vessel's main deflector.
