Designed a new X-Carriage for the Prusa Rework (1.0 or 1.5), meant to be used with the longer LM8LUU linear bearings (8x15x45mm).
You can optionally use this with 4 x LM8UU bearings, but they'll stick out a few mm.
The carriage block is designed to be strong, yet simple.
The bearings are press-fit into the holes, and then (optionally) retained by 4 x M3-10mm screws and M3 washers. You'll need to take apart your X and Z axis to install this.
The back of the block has recessed holes for the socket head cap screws.
You will need:
4 x M4-30mm socket head cap screws, to mount the extruder.
2 x M3-20mm socket head cap screws, to attach the X-axis belt.
The 2x M3 screws are used to secure the ends of the X-carriage belt:
At each end of the belt, form a loop with the teeth facing in - the length of the loop should be about 18-20mm. Clamp the loop with two zip-ties on each end.
Insert one end of the loop into the block, and insert one of the M3 screws through the loop to secure it.
Repeat the same for the other side, and then tension the belt.
