Designed this prop balancer to work with the Great Planes finger balancer, or any other finger balancer that has a rod 55.34mm wide.
To account for tolerances, the balancer was designed with two vertical risers spaced 56mm apart. This way if the magnets are not completely flush, the finger spacer will still be able to move freely. The balancer will accommodate props up to 11" in diameter for full rotation; you can use larger propellers but they will not rotate fully.
Printing:
Recommend changing the wall count from 2 to 4. This will ensure the vertical risers do not flex. I believe in Cura if you change the wall thickness to 1.6mm, ,this will automatically change the wall count to 4 as the wall count is calculated based on the nozzle size of 0.4mm (1.6mm wall thickness / 0.4 Nozzle = wall count of 4). In Simplify3D the wall count can be changed in the Layers tab>Outline/Perimeter Shells
Infill is 15%. I printed using PLA+ at 220C so the layer adhesion was very good.
You should be able to use regular PLA.
The magnets are rare earth magnets 8mm in diameter and 3mm thick. The balancer was designed such that the magnets press fit snugly without CA. I used a flat ruler and pushed them in. Note do not force them in with excessive pressure as it could crack the part. if the hole is too tight, just take an Exacto knife and remove a bit of material from the top of the hole. Print with NO Supports
