I made a cabinet for my printer in order to help maintain heat. It has a light inside, webcam and window in the door. In the top, there is the bushing that I designed.
A lot more people have taken interest in this cabinet than i thought they would. I will give you a run down on the specs and measurements.
All panels are luan ply from Lowes hardware, some people call it door core; it's the cheap stuff, $2.98 per 24" x 24" sheet, I bought 6. I went with this because I can't fit a full 48" x 96" sheet in my car. Wood is 2" x 1" fir strips, once again the cheap stuff. Dig though what they have and you will be able to find pieces with little or no knots in them, plus being fairly straight helps. Most of my pieces had 1 or 2 knots in the ends, since all cuts are at a 45, the knots were not a problem. Lexan I had at home, varnish, piano hinge and a bunch of screws
Dimensions:
Bottom - 19" x 22"
With the 1 x 2's on the bottom, that creates a 3/4" high pocket, 16 x 19" that the i3 fits in snugly.
Top - same a bottom, but 1 x 2's on the outside with slot in the back for removable back
Sides - 18" x 22" which leaves a couple inches above the printer to aid in lifting it in and out of the box.
Also, take note I the z axis braces and adjustable feet on mine, so I made the box large enough to accommodate these additions.
That's about it, nothing fancy, and it makes a huge difference, bed and extruder heat stay fairly constant.
