Printable (maybe) Ymrich Industries T01 by ymrich

Last crawled date: 3 years, 4 months ago
Please Note: Only the individual part files are being updated now. I am leaving the compound files for reference only.
Success! The first prototype is complete! Now I can claim with certainty that the locomotive is printable. So the "maybe" could be scratched from the title, but, unfortunately, it can not be edited.
With this, I am ending the development of this variant, and I am starting the development of a powered one, which I will post as a new, separate model, when it is done. But even before that, I will probably make a train car or two.
Update 1: Added versions of the Engine covers with filled grates for better overhangs. Old version kept as well. Look for "w Fill".
Update 2: Added another version of the engine covers, with struts positioned behind the gaps between the doors and the body. These were too thin and are actually coming out as empty space. Since this maybe desirable for someone who wants to make the doors moving, I'm also keeping the old version.
Update 3: After printing the rear part of the engine hood, I added some tiny fillings for the door handles. The print turned out fairly good, but with the handles I was just lucky that some of the stray thread did not ruin the whole thing. With this augment this issue should be resolved. I will test this on the front hood (cover). This change was only made to the struts version of the parts.
Update 4: As the front engine cover is being printed, I've noticed there is still a tiny gap between the doors and the struts. So fat, the model is printing nicely, but there is some stringing, so I quickly repositioned the struts, as far to the outer surface as I could. Hopefully this will resolve the issue, while further reducing material spent.
Update 5: (Dec 7, 2020) While printing the cabin, I've noticed that the integrated supports supporting the frame where the engine cowling is connecting are lined-up incorrectly, leaving a gap between them an the body, making them completely useless. I have corrected this now. Please make sure that you have the latest cabin part model, the old version is probably impossible to print.
Update 6: (Dec 10, 2020) Replaced both "Chassis Inner" parts (L, R) with newer versions with a cleaner rear face for better printing.
Update 7: (Dec 11, 2020) Cropped the cabin ladder for better printing.
Update 8: (Dec 11, 2020) Cropped two protrusions from the base plate of the Buffer Spring Section.
Update 9: (Dec 12, 2020) Removed the snap-in hole in the buffer bumper plate and made it thicker for better printing.
Update 10: (Dec 20, 2020) Split all of the horns for better printing results. I kept the unsplit versions also.
Update 11: (Dec 20, 2020) Filled out the hollow space in the horns, as the walls were too thin for printing.
This is a cut-up version of the T01 by Ymrich Industries Co. I haven't printed it yet, so there might be major errors or oversights.
In each of the files (both are the same file, different formats), there are two instances of the locomotive, made from the same cut-up parts, but one is assembled and one is disassembled, with the parts ordered in groups.
All the groups are on one axis, separated by 100 mm, so you can always select a group, set Y to zero and it will automatically fall in place. This way, you can assemble almost the whole locomotive, with the exception of a few parts set apart for better orientation.
This way you can see where everything goes.
Edit: For your convenience, I have now also added all 48 unique parts in separate files.
Hopefully I haven't forgotten to take out any overlapping material. It will be days, if not longer, before I can verify this can be printed. Unfortunately I will have to work for a few days now, before I can get back on this.
You might also notice that the cabin is slightly different in this version. This is because I had to recreate the whole body to get rid of some errors that were preventing me from merging and cutting the model and it turned out slightly different.
I also added a little bit of detail here and there.
The model is designed as a 35-mm gauge (which I define as the horizontal distance between the centers of the wheels of this prototype train, so the actual distance between rails will probably be a tad mode), which I am developing, intentionally chosen not to match any of the standard gauges, while being optimally suited for the size of my printer. But obviously, the scale can be adjusted.
Enjoy!
Ymrich Industries is an imaginary industry giant with its headquarters in Kocourkov. It focuses mainly on the production of all sorts of vehicles and means of transportation and accessories. It was founded in the late seventies and since, it grew at an exponential rate. It is estimated to control over 60 percent of the imaginary transportation market in the imaginary world.
The T01 (or T301, the 3 designating the number of powered axles) is the very first diesel-electric locomotive made by Ymrich Industries and was a great success, its characteristic appearance impressing itself upon the pliable young minds of countless boys, who would later in their lives become very nostalgic for this machine.
