I wanted a simple way to display and light my printed moon lamp. I know there are kits and instructions out there to add an LED inside with a AC plug but I wanted something that would be battery powered.
The fairy light packs you can find in the home decor/wedding area of most big chain stores were ideal for what I wanted but I needed to conceal the battery pack in the base. This design was the result of that and it works perfectly.
The battery pack (3AA )batteries slides tightly but perfectly in the slot and the fairy light strand can be routed out the top hole and into a small hole in the bottom of your moon lamp. The bright white fairy lights work perfectly inside the moon to light it up nicely.
The moon lamp should sit nicely in the divot on top regardless of diameter. If your happy enough with it, you could even glue the globe to the base but I preferred to just set it on top.
Here's the moon lamp model I used:https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2955930
