I built this as a replacement for my broken Squeezebox. It is primarily for streaming music and radio (hence the audiophile DAC) but also does the usual RPi stuff like running game console emulators (with a compatible blue tooth controller) and Plex.
The OLED display is really bright and can easily be read from across the room (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ot0-deq33PA). It is driven by my own software - I'll attach the code once it reaches maturity or you can contact me if you'd like a development snapshot.
If you'd like to build your own you'll need the following:
Raspberry Pi 2/3
OLED display - https://www.adafruit.com/products/2674
Pi DAC+ - http://www.iqaudio.co.uk/home/8-pi-dac-0712411999650.html
A handful of female to female jumper cables
Six M2.5 x 8mm hex bolts and nuts
A handful of M2.5 washers to use as spacers
(Optional) Four round self adhesive rubber feet 6x3mm - I used these (part no. 31-0405) http://www.rapidonline.com/mechanical-fastenings-fixings/affix-self-adhesive-black-feet-6-0-x-3-0mm-sheet-of-144-31-0405
