This is a stand for phones and small tablets that was engineered in a 3D program, created from a 3D printed master, and then cast in a composite stone to be identical to a medium gray granite.
Full details of the materials and process of creating this phone stand, along with additional photos and video can be found on the project page:
http://robot50.net/projects/the-bean-phone-stand/
I have a few finished ones available on Etsy at:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/238578422/phone-small-tablet-stand-in-composite?ref=shop_home_active_1
The stand works great for video chatting or movie watching, or just have on your desk to keep track of your notifications. It will accommodate phones (in cases or out) and small tablets (up to 8").
The stand has a small deep pocket in the back for storing headphones, business cards, a favorite pen, or other small items.
You can print this in plastic on your 3D printer. However it needs something grippy glued to the bottom and it wont be heavy enough for tablet use.
I have uploaded the master file as bean_master. This was used to cast the copies after being printed in ABS and acetone fumed to get a smooth finish. I have also uploaded a 3D model for a support for the silicone mold used in production and a 2D vector file used to cut the neoprene bottoms on a craft cutter. See my site for full details.
