This is a peristaltic pump for the NEMA17 motor. The design is largely inspired by those of Ralf and silisand, but with several improvements. First, the tension on the hose can be adjusted. Second, the housing for the bearings is a solid piece, and it also accommodates set screws to hold it securely on the shaft of the motor. Third, I designed it so that the pump can have as large a diameter and as many bearings as desired. I used four bearings but I have tested it with three.
I used brass inserts for the set screws in the roller housing and the tension screws on the hose plate. The included printed washers go between the bearings and the roller assembly. (I find that they are more consistent and easier to fine tune than metal washers.)
I use four of these pumps for dosing a reef tank and for automating water changes. I have used them to move up to 4 liters per hour, but they could probably do more.
Vitamins per pump head:
Nema 17 motor
6mm silicone tubing
4x M3 6mm flat head to secure motor to bracket
4x M4 25mm to secure front to back
4x M4 20mm roller bearing shafts
1x M3 20mm for securing pump to bracket
2x M3 10mm for securing pump to bracket
1x M3 8mm for securing pump to bracket
4x M3 10mm set screw for roller housing and to capture the tension screws
8x 624zz radial ball bearings
M3 and M4 washers and nuts
2x M3 and 2x M4 threaded brass inserts (I used the more expensive variety designed for heat setting, with one end smaller diameter than the other)
