I give you the largest project I've designed to date. Projects with Moving parts and lot of them are not simple! It's final design is my version #4 of just under a year of work. Don't let it's simple looks fool you, it was a lot of work. I think it has some issue that may be reworked here and there but I needed to remember that many people can't print items larger than my chosen size of the "Deck Plate" part. I would like a wider wheel base which would give better stability. I was amazed of how much weight this thing could accommodate, and the more weight on it the more stable it was.
The Pipe is standard 1/2" PVC schedule 40 white. You can remove all those nasty printing on the pipe with a small wire brush or scrape back and forth with a pocket knife.
To attach all items to the pipes. I drilled a small pilot hole near the connecting base and and screwed a screw in that goes through the pvc pipe and into the 15.3mm knobs that stick up. You could use pvc glue if you like but I don't know how PLA and that glue interact.
Pictures are of my baby after a full day's use. The handle and the wheels are printed in Ninja flex but don't need to be. First persons reactions were though, "Ooh the handle feels nice.." and it rolls on wood floors with a very soft and quiet sound. FYI I had to tilt the top section to make it stand up for the solo picture but during normal use it does not slouch like that. It took me a few tries to jam it in that configuration for the picture else the slide goes down as intended.
For the axles I used the bolts that come with the eSun Filament rolls. I put the "Wheel Base" into a vice and pushed the nut and the bolt head into the axle locations with my 30 watt soldering iron. In a min or two they were seated perfectly in place.
2 stranded ABEC 8mm Bearings (used in roller blades) pop into each of the 2 wheels. (total of 4) Here is a link to some but any or the cheapest once you find will be super. https://www.amazon.com/Generic-Precision-Bearing-Skateboard-Longboard/dp/B00ZSKWZZK
I printed everything with 7 shells at .25mm using a .4 nozzle with 15% fill and it's very sturdy!
Handle,TopBar, Wheel, Wheelbase need to be printed with supports. See the last picture for the print orientations that I used. FrontLeg, and Deck Plate does not need supports.
My lower PVC Pipes are about 18" (457mm) long. The upper ones can be a bit longer based on your height. I recommend printing the lower parts, putting together and then measuring where you think it feel comfortable.
If you want modifications or the source files for a remix, let me know and formats you can use as I designed this with Solid works.
NOTE: The deck part didn't finish printing on my version in the pictures, but, enough of it printed for me to assemble and actually use.
