The iconic Patt 123 was designed by Strand Electric who were founded in 1914 in London’s West End and had their manufacturing works in Covent Garden.
The Patt 123 or Baby Fresnel spotlight, was one of the work horses of the theatre industry from the late 50’s to the 1980’s Launched in 1957 they are the companion lantern to the hugely successful Patt 23 Baby Profile spot.
The first lanterns off the line were rushed into service to light the original London production of My Fair Lady at the Drury Lane Theatre in London’s West End
Strand lanterns were very solidly constructed and built to last. These lanterns were constructed around a strong diecast alloy body shell.
