This is probably the last spinner cap you will ever need :-). The spinner cap was created in openSCAD and all aspects of the spinner can be modified. It can be printed with or without a slot, with or without roundovers on the button, the button size, plug size, and so forth can be controlled. I think about using this with a small screw between the buttons - the screw can be screwed into the plastic, or thread inserts can be used.
There are three sample STLs included but this is only a thought regarding what could be generated by this program. Openscad is free. Download it and modify the button plug until you are happy, then make an STL and see how it prints. The difference in the source between the slotted one and the unslotted one is one parameter. Ditto for the double slotted one.
There is a separate set of preview STLs and a separate openSCAD file that is for attaching your caps together with a screw and a nut where the screw and nut are simply screwed in from the outside. The hole in the center goes through and the sample is for a 3mm allen head mchine screw and a nut that has a plastic insert (or a drop of glue). This is abstracted from an older project of mine. It leaves a hole in the center of the spinner cap (perforce) that the new design is supposed to overcome, but you might like it. So I am including it.
