This is a parametric design for a Pottery wheel head. The smaller sizes can be used for banding wheels, or any other kind of revolving platform.
A plastic version isn't durable enough for pottery, so I've used the 3d printed wheel as a pattern for sand casting of metal. In this case I made the wheel from Aluminum.
For the CAD I have used Python Code to generate OpenSCAD code which can then output an STL file.
The larger wheels are bigger than my printer can handle so I have an option to print the wheel in pie segments which can be glued together.
I also have a core box model. A core is needed to prevent metal shrinkage in the central hub when the wheel is being cast.
The Python source files can be found here:https://github.com/deadsy/parametric_cad/tree/master/wheel
The files attached to this thing are specific instances of the OpenSCAD and STL output for an 8" wheel.
I don't expect too many people to cast their own wheels based on this pattern, but if you are interested, grab the Python code from github and play around with the parameters to make the kind of wheel you want.
