Hallo 3D - Gemeinde,
(http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1967086), genial.
Hello 3D community,
I find the story around the OpenRC Tractor development of Makitpro (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1967086) , awesome.
All parts, except the engine and the electronics can be printed and if then something breaks, relatively quickly replace again.
Also the mods and the other accessories makitpro provides is great.
What I did not like, however, is that the engine mod drives a rigid continuous axis, why is there no differential gear provided?
This has prompted me to see for myself whether the possibility of a differential could arise. I have reconstructed various parts with DesignSpark mechanical to allow changes to be incorporated into the design. There are various details on the route, such as the mounting points for the rear jack or the hitch, but these can be relatively easy to supplement. I tried to keep the original design as far as I could, but some modifications were necessary in the chassis.
It is unfortunately synonymous, although I have already made some trial expressions, still change potential is present, for example, the storage of the engine to improve, I had to find that the engine probably synonymous different lengths and thus the rear strut Must be omitted.
I have however in the plans not considered.
I can not construct gears, which has caused me to search here at Thingiverse for the parts I need. Under the address www.thingiverse.com/thing:79938 I have found the necessary diferrential, "barspin" has filed here a closed differential for the scale 1:10, which seemed suitable for me. The drive axles themselves were then newly designed. The Input_Pinion was unfortunately not there, I found then under www.thingiverse.com/thing:737465, however, the scale and the opening for the engine axis had to be reworked here.
For the assembly itself, the two chassis parts must be printed with support and at least 55% filling, the gear and the axles do not require support, but the print should be printed with 100% filling.
The gearbox is additionally supported with two ball bearings of the same size as those already used on the axles. For the design of the gearbox, countersunk head screws of size M3x10 are well suited, in addition, two countersunk head screws are required for screwing the differential housing. If available, use screws for plastic, length approx. 15mm. The spacers are placed on the axles before mounting the ball bearings, the short spacers on the left, the longer spacers on the right side, which are intended to prevent the gearbox from moving back and forth in the housing.
Place the ball bearing and insert the drive unit into the lower chassis.
Place the Input_Pinion on the motor axis, presumably controlled force is required, since the axle diameter is larger than the bore. This is because the gear wheel rotates otherwise. The motor has a fixed position and is inserted into it. The connecting wires, which must be installed before, must be removed from the lower chassis and then screw the upper and lower chassis. An additional screw connection behind the motor through both chassisteiles should additionally apply clamping force.
As already mentioned above, the design has already been done a few times, already from the development were some Probedrucke necessary in order to check the feasibility again and again.
However, the engine (RS540) is probably a bit strong for the drive, with the gear ratio resulting from the differential, the tractor becomes a racing machine, so it is necessary to use a transmitter with servo limit and set reasonable values .
My thanks to all those who, with their amounts, helped me unconsciously to implement this project and very special thanks to Makitpro, who started this OpenRC thought.
