It overlooks Hart Plaza, Cobo Hall, and the Detroit River. It is connected directly to the Guardian Building by an enclosed walkway over W. Larned Street. Architect Minoru Yamasaki designed One Woodward Avenue. His design for McGregor Memorial Conference Center at Wayne State University is also highly regarded by architects. 1] One Woodward Avenue (1962) contains 26 stories, and reaches a height of 430 feet (131 m). Minoru Yamasaki used it to formulate his design for the now-destroyed World Trade Center in New York City. At night, the large 'cube' at the top is lit up with large floodlights, color-coded with seasonal events.
