Missing piece for your beloved car !
Sphero’s Lightning McQueen is an awesome robotic toy with every detail is intact. I especially like the idea of wired charging with red cable which mimics fuel hose, so I push that idea even further and this old gas pump style AC adaptor cover was born.
I designed it so that small 3D printer like M3D Micro can handle without support. But I noticed the slicer integrated in the M3D software cannot process the whole data (OldGasPump_All.stl) correctly, and that is why I prepared the separated files (OldGasPump_MainUnit.stl, OldGasPump_PlugHolder.stl, OldGasPump_PricePanel.stl, OldGasPump_Sign.stl). So if you encounter the same problem or use different color filaments for some parts, please use those files.
Also, please print OldGasPump.png on a gloss paper, cut them out and paste them on the respective parts.
If you use PLA and want apply adhesive to fix small perts, I recommend to use one for acrylic resin. Just one drop melts the surface of PLA and fix them well, but ventilate well and handle with care. Adhesive for acrylic resin also works for ABS, but it hard to find good adhesive for PLA, so I wanted to add this info.
You have 2 ways to use this cover (Please see the usage images). Either way, Please set the outside cable length first, and manage the cable inside. The inside space is tight, but the rest of the cable can be packed in the case as you can see in the photo.
WARNING : Use this cover at your own risk. I have no problem using it so far, but rolled cable may produce heat. Please disconnect the adopter from an AC outlet when not in use.
Note for M3D Micro user : Please disable “Enable skirt” when you print OldGasPump_All.stl or OldGasPump_MainUnit.stl, otherwise they won’t fit in the build plate. Do not worry. Although it says skirt is recommended, you can print them fine. You might encounter slight curl of the front panel, which is located bottom when printed, but it adds some good nuance to the pump.
