2/27/2021 - Update v3, added photos of the finalized print. Couple of tweaks to be made but generally a success. Will update model to:
Add Octprint Logo to Hexagon Venting
Improve fit up tolerance for the drawer
Reduce the side of outlet adjacent gussets to avoid dremel work after printing
Add two additional button holes
Add tapers at mounting holes
Improve fan mounting hole
v4, may experiment with some cable trays to organize the wiring and reducing necessary supports.
2/20/2021 - Update v2, scraped the original concept, the box didn't fit where I wanted, was clunky and we can do better. Modified the concept to be a 2U factor rack mount enclosure complete with a drawer and added a front outlet for possible temporary accessories that I may want to control with Octoprint. Also added ventilation.
I searched and searched for a convenient case design for my Octoprint Server with the following requirements:
1) Integrated 5V Relay Board (preferably 4 or 8 channel)
2) Integrated Power Supply
3) Raspberrypi3 Integrated w/ full port access
4) Four relay switched outlets
5) A separation between low and line voltage areas/components
6) A open/yet protected access for various GPIO connected components
7) Appropriately sized M3-0.5 mounting stems for parts
8) All cables on one face for a clean placement/install
9) Mounts cleanly into a Lack Enclosure
I couldn't find an all in one package, so I created this. Its a big hulking Octoprint Case meeting all the guidelines set forth above. Being relatively new to design the case may be a little oversized; but it accomplishes what I set out to do. In the future when I devise a way to joint the case into sections I hope to make a thinner full rack width case with rack mounting ears to clean up the install.
