The Norris Whitney Bridge, commonly referred to as the 'Bay Bridge' or simply the 'Belleville Bridge', is part of the King's Highway #62 (formerly Hwy 14). The bridge is located just south of Hwy 2 and a few blocks west of downtown (Front St.) Belleville. This bridge replaced the Belleville Bay Swing Bridge after its construction was completed in 1982. The bridge spans across the Bay of Quinte to permit travel from Belleville to Picton via Hwy 62. One can clearly see the abandoned causeway to the west of the Bay Bridge. The old Bay of Quinte Bridge was constructed between 1927 and 1931, and consisted of multiple steel truss spans (consisting of 18 spans) and a long causeway, the remnants of which can be seen to the west of the Norris Whitney Bridge. The bridge and causeway structure replaced an 18-span truss bridge that was built in 1890. The bridge links Hastings County with Prince Edward County, in Ontario, Canada. #Belleville #Bridge #Google_Earth #Hwy_14 #Hwy_2 #Hwy_62_South #Kings_Highway #SingleSpan
