The short wheelbase is a new addition to the XT8 range and the 2.3 TDI-4 the first four cylinder XT8. The XT8 SWB is designed to challenge the Jeep Wrangler and Land Rover Defender 90. It's availiable in CX, Bushranger and Sport trims, with 2, 2+1 or 4 seats and with front double wishbones or live axle. The rear suspension is 4 link coil spring only, the leaf springs availiable on other variants are not offered. As the title suggests it's a 2.3 litre turbo diesel, which produces190hp(142kW)@4200rpm and 275ft lb(373Nm)@1900-3800rpm. This engine is availiable on all X820 models other than the XC8 dual cab, but it's expected to be most popular in the SWB. A 2.5L twin turbo I6, 3.2L turbo diesel I6 and a 4.0L TT V8 are also offered in the XT8 SWB. The CX offers part time 4WD with diff locks and low range, a six speed manual, vynil trim, off road traction control, 7 airbags, CD player, air conditioning and all terrain tyres.
