This thing is for use in a 3D scanning project. When the motor is hooked up to arduino, the platform can be spun from a computer using software and controlling a camera taking pictures. This allows you to capture all the angles automatically for stitching into a 3D scan.
The large screw can go down as far as you would like, and the large gear must have a platform attached with screws so it "floats" over the large screw head.
I used the large gear and small motor gear from the designs for the Mendel RepRapPro that printed this.
