This is a reproduction of an ancient European telegraphic key from the end of the 1800s. It is an ancient and rare telegraphic key not used to transmit the morse signal, but to learn the morse code at a time when it was not possible to have electricity in simple way. This telegraphic key, the original, is made of heavy cast iron. The operator to learn the morse code listened to the sound of the tic tic emitted by the beat of the key.
A very simple device preserved for over 150 years.
In this project I have faithfully reproduced this key so as to preserve its memory and give it the possibility to simply reproduce it.
The model can also be used to make a mold able to recreate the original cast iron version.
NOTE: The shape of the key is reminiscent of a
Camel's hump, hence the name: Camel Key.
How to print:
There are three file .stl
KeyOld_arm.stl (print and glue the two item)
KeyOld_base.stl
KeyOld_knob.stl
This is a work in progress.
Best wishes, Giuseppe Callipo - IK8YFW
