I absolutely loved Samurai57's modular gameboard design from the moment I saw it and knew it was exactly what I had been looking for to base my 3d-printable Wahoo board design off of. While I loved the look of it and the ability to print the rings in different colors, I ended up rearranging the holes and making my own concave raised spaces to better facilitate the use of glass marbles. I also used his 2 space connectors to create 3 space angled connectors to allow the use of this for a more traditional Wahoo board cross layout and spacing scheme. I also made similar straight pieces to facilitate the modular nature of this board if the traditional cross layout is not important to the user.
In my current rendition, I have two base versions. In both versions, the "home" space for each player is indicated by an additional ring around the space and the "shortcut" spaces are on the connectors with the same indicator. In my House Rules base, some players of this game may notice that this is in a different spot than where it usually is for this game. I just recently learned that my family had a house rule that always used the space blocking the entrance to the safe zone to add an additional component of strategy where you could block yourself by making the wrong decision on whether to take a marble to safety or get a marble out. This also made it to where you could not take the shortcut in a single d6 move from when getting a marble out, further adding complexity to the game. So, I also added a Traditional base with the home point in the corner.
I have a long running print going right now. So, I only have printed off a couple of prototype pieces so far. I will get additional photos up when I can.
Future enhancements will be to make the home space "hot-swappable" from my family's placement and the traditional one, as well as allowing these spaces to be denoted by a different color of filament, if desired. I would also like to make a case for this that the bases slide into and then it has a bin for the modular connectors and dice/marble storage.
