This is the MAPMakER project, which stands for ModulAr Printed ModEl Rocket. The goals of this project are to:
-Design a fully 3d printed, modular model rocket with full parachute recovery system.
-Simple and rapid assembly with no glue required.
It achieves this by connecting the individual parts by screws and threads modified from Nut, Bolt, Washer and Threaded Rod Factory by mike_mattala( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:193647 )
This system is a work in progress. Right now only the 3 and 4 part configurations are available. Only 18mm motors are supported. I am currently working on 24mm motor compatibility. I also plan on making a special payload nose cone that can house an 808 keychain camera and Jolly Logic Altimeters.
Demo Flights 1 and two:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L41hOa1F4Cohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouKVIZMkeGU&t=14s
Supplies needed for assembly:
-2 or 3 feet of shock cord
-12 inch parachute
-Shock cord mount
-A few drops of super glue/epoxy
-3d printed rocket pieces
Here is a video explaining the entire assembly process: https://youtu.be/XxoyaAiFrxM
Here is an explanation of the nomenclature of the peices
Format: (Prefix)-(Suffix)[modifier]
Prefix List:
NC- nose cone
BT- body tube
BTE- body tube extension
FSMM- fin section / motor mount
MR- motor retainer
The Suffix is a number that specifies the configuration of the part. For example, NC-1 is a conical nosecone, and NC-2 is parabolic nosecone.
Modifier List:
X- means that the part is designed to allow the nosecone to fit inside of it.
+- Means the part is for 24mm motor compatibility
Examples: FSMM-1(standard fin section/motor mount with rectangular fins), BT-1X(body tube that allows the nosecone to be installed), FSMM-2+( fin section/motor mount with clipped delta fins and 24mm motor compatibility).
