Mist coolant nozzle

This is a mist coolant nozzle for a milling machine. It uses low pressure air and coolant to remove chips from the work area and lubricate the cutter. With the proper adjustment of air and coolant pressure the nozzle will not atomize the coolant but distribute it in small particles. Thus NOT making a cloud of coolant vapor. The files were created in Inventor 2015 with step and iges formats for compatibility. The ipt file includes the CAM toolpaths.

The hose fittings are 1/8" barb #10-32 connectors. The needle valve is from www.clippard.com part #MNV-4CK. The tube is 3/16" brass tube from Lowes and in the end there is a MIG .035" welding tip that is trimmed down and soldered in.

The tube is a 3/16" brass tube 6" long.
The nozzle tip is a .35mm MIG welding tip cut down to fit in the tube.

In the photo the top port on the device is the liquid port and the lower is air. I use a 2 regulator system. I regulate the air down to about 15 PSI and the liquid is usually about 3 PSI higher. One of the photos in the collection shows the circuit that feeds the nozzle.
