I use Mirka pads, I use the 150mm and the 125mm on the powered sanders but didnt fancy buying into a third ecosystem with their rectangular hand sanders and so I designed this 125mm sander.
The initial design looked more or less like the 125mm Mirka air sander but required lots of support material so I redesigned the part for 3d printing and theres now only one element of support material to remove in the inlet.
The hand grip works really well, the suction created means mostly your just providing sided to side motion 90% of the time the limited grip feels perfect 10% of the time you have to grip the inlet or something but I've naturally adapted and not found it awkward... might be because I climb/boulder...
Internally we designed a donut shape to provide internal support, i believe it helps the suction vortex in some way but this is the sort of tool you might crush so it has this other latent benifit of being super strong, its been used a few times (only thing to hand) to prop work benchs up and its certainly been crushed a few times... thus far after about 14 months its working out well.
I suggest printing your own adapter tube to match your shop vac.
I think the hole pattern is aligned with the mirka pad savers, it might have been the festool ones... they might be the same... either way just glue one on...
