This is a remix of my original design. I designed a jet drive a while back and also got a "new" printer that has a Z of around 300mm. Decided to add the jet drive to the hull and print the largest boat hull I could on my printer. Ended up being a 22mm jet drive stuffed in to a 285mm long boat hull. added a flat area on top for an easy hatch. Printed it hollow with 2 perimeters set to .75mm for a total wall thickness of 1.4mm so it has some layer overlap for adhesion. Printed in esun PETG. Did one test in a sink and it works pretty well. Waiting on parts to finish it.
Now have all the files for the jet drive loaded. Here is what i am using for parts and electronics.
1/8" stainless steel drive shaft purchased from McMaster (3mm would likely also work)
K&S brass tubing from hobby shop to use as stuffing tube and bushing in stator. ID to match shaft size
I used a 5g servo for steering with some 1mm wire
motor and esc from banggood. currently using a DYS 2000kv outrunner. probably too low of KV. Also working on a 4800kv ducted motor that they sell there as well.
ESC was just a 10a mini quad ESC
I was running it with a 2s 350ma lipo but I would recommend 3s if using the 2000kv motor
I drew up and made a motor mount that was laser cut from birch ply. I may add that file as a printable part. Also used a laser to cut the top hatch out. I included a few different 22mm impellers I have played around with.
