Mill at Moara de pe Piatră in Prigor

The photographs that I built this mill from were posted by Asociatia Acasa in Banat on Facebook. This is organization active since 2019 in mill protection and restoration in Western Romania and members of The International Molinological Society. They have given me permission to use their photographs because as well as restoring mills they aim to share the importance of historic mills with everyone. I was particularly interested because this is the type of mill that was introduced into England by the Anglo-Saxons. Rather than having a vertical wheel driving the mill stones via a bevel gear it has a vetical shaft directly to the mill stones, driven by a horizontal turbine which can be raised or lowered into the water.
