Sir Charles Scott Sherrington (27 November 1857 – 4 March 1952) was an English neurophysiologist, histologist, bacteriologist, and a pathologist, Nobel laureate and president of the Royal Society in the early 1920s. He received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Edgar Adrian, 1st Baron Adrian, in 1932 for their work on the functions of neurons.
This 3D model is a close representation of Sherrington's Histology Box that was recovered in circa 2010. The model is meant for storage of 10 microscopy slides as compared to the original which is a whole microbiology closet. The individual slide compartments have a pit arrangement which is designed for a regular microscopy slide (75 x 25 mm) wherein the slide can sit inside. The slide pit also has a handle to allow it to be slid in and out of the box's compartment with ease.
The model has been created with a view of 'fancy storage' for permanent microscopy slides. It gives a vintage touch to the regular item and I am sure it would look fantastic on a Teacher's desktop.
This Thing is a work in progress for now as I look forward to add compartments for slides of different dimensions.
If you ever print one, please remember to post your print in the 'I Made One' section.
Thank you!
Please Note:The First model in the 3D preview is NOT a print-in-place model. It is only for the purpose of representation. Print the Base and the slide compartments separately.
