The University of Chicago's excavation of the Biblical site of #Megiddo (New Testament #Armageddon) uncovered a series of #Iron_Age city #gates. The #stratigraphy and dating of which has been a long-standing debate in #Biblical_Archaeology. Understanding this debate is fundamental to comprehending the development of the discipline of Iron Age #Archaeology of the #Levant, and especially the interdependence (or lack thereof) of Archaeology and #Biblical_Exegesis. This series of simple models is meant to acquaint the student with the different scenarios proposed by scholars about the sequence and dating of these structures.The first model shows the #Two_Chamber gate, as published by P. L. O. Guy in 1931. Guy dated this gate to the kingdom of #Solomon.
