So this is our first time doing a design and a 3D print, so a lot of mistakes were made. This is an effort to recognize and learn from those mistakes.

The inspiration for this design came from the

1. Concept of autorotation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autorotation ).

2. Landing legs of falcon 9 rocket by SpaceX.

3. Using radial contact to hold the egg , done by Lehaiver .

The design was printed but a few crucial mistakes related to DFM (Design for Manufacturing) made it impossible to assemble.

1. First mistake is the legs and their connection to the central cupola, it is too complicated, plus there was no clearance left for a fit (should be 0.3 mm).

2. The springs to attach the egg housing to each other should be tight enough, right now they are too lax hence it can easily slide off.

3. The blades should have more surface area.

Hopefully this excercise has not gone in vain and we have learned some valuable lessons in design esp. Design for 3d printing.

Cheers

-Manan and Imran
