Mandelbrot Fractal Driftwood by Shapespeare

While playing with my version of Virtox's Julia Vase technique I stumbled upon some amazingly chaotic variations. Empowered with an utter ignorance of the math involved I modeled a perturbation of the power factor of a Mandelbrot set. The result is so different from the Julia Vases that it is hard to believe they were generated the same way.
I printed it, but with all the overhangs and gorgeous fragile fine details, the print doesn't really do it justice.
I posted a tutorial video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VmPtCf8m34 so anyone can explore these amazing forms. If you try it be sure to post what you come up with and comment any problems you have and any improvements you make to the technique.
