A bar is levitated using 10x10mm cylindrical neodymium magnets. The neodymium magnets are so strong that the floater is levitated by 3 cm. It will look good at your office desk and can also be a good scientific toy for the kids.
Additional things required:
10mmx10mm cylindrical (disc) neodymium magnets - 6 pieces (you can also use set of 5 pieces of 10mmx2mm magnets in place of each 10mmx10mm magnet)
A piece of thread
Print instructions:
Print to the scale, if the scale is changed, the magnets don't fit in. I printed with 15% fill and i think its not a crucial factor.
Assembly Instructions:
The magnets snap fit in to the slots on the base. All the similar poles (either north pole or south pole) of all 6 magnest should face in the same direction as shown in the last image. The magnets should not be exactly on top of base magnets but should be displaced approximately by 10mm.
Important note: Don't place the levitating kit on a magnetic material like a metal table or a metal plate. The metal will interfere with magnetic field created by magnets and the rod will loose balance and won't levitate.
