So there are two versions of this dump-bin because I'm still testing this, Version 1 works good, the difference is version 2 is more adjustable in its placement along the Y axis in case you're not using stock methods of mounting your quad head to the X axis gantry plate.
This mod will work with stock quads, and Bowden converted quads, this will also work with a quad modded with or without a BLtouch as long as you haven't modded the Z-end-stop switch or way to touches makes contact with the Axis motor plate.
Version 1 (No Servo)
dump-bin.stl
Cover the slide portion with aluminum foil tape.
lightly coat with cooking oil.
dump-bin-box.stl
Use two zip tips to secure the box under the bin slide to catch filament.
dump-bin-box-gate.stl
insert into the box
There are two options for Version 1, I prefer Option 1.
I had good luck with both options, but option 1 works significantly better with PETG.
Option 1: dump-bin-inserts-washer.stl
Cover with aluminum foil tape
Insert an M4 washer sharp side down
lightly coat with cooking oil
insert into the dump bin
Option 2: dump-bin-insert-4-Metal-blade.stl
Cut a piece of .01 mm brass sheet so that it is 1-2mm above the top of the insert
1a. Reference photo for clarity on instructions.
1b. I used an old brass feeler gauge and cut it to size.
Tape in place with aluminum foil tape
lightly coat with cooking oil
insert into the dump bin
Hardware Required:
2x M5 40mm - 45 Bolts
2x M5 Nylock nuts
Aluminum foil tape
Option 1:
M4 Washer
Option 2:
.01mm metal sheeting (I brass to the stainless nozzle does not get scratched.)
Scripts:
Startscript - Simplify3d.txt
Endscript - Simplify3d.txt
ToolChange Script - Simplify3D - NoServo.txt
-OR-
ToolChange Script - Simplify3d - Brass Blade - No Servo.txt
(If using the blade version instead of the washer insert)
Please read the scripts and their comments you will have to make adjustments after you install and home your printer.
Insert scripts into your slicer for start, end, and tool change
If using the "Brass blade" instead of using the washer you can simply extrude 80-100mm of plastic then cut it off instead of chopping it off every 20mm in the tool change script.
the only thing that makes these files Simplify3d is the variables used to control the fan and temperatures.
Printer configs:
You'll need to edit your "M208 X0 Y0 Z0 S1 ; Set axis minima" to X-15 to place the home switch at -15 from the bed.
/sys/motion.g
You'll need to edit the following files to place nozzle in the center of the washer after homing, during pause, and after cancel.
/sys/homeall.g
/sys/pause.g
/sys/homex.g
/sys/cancel.g
Version 2 (No Servo):
