This Lunar Sample Extractor works by extracting a mixed sample from the lunar surface by means of a robotic arm. The mixture is forced through a rotating filter by a coil. The coil and the rotating filter spin in opposite directions to enhance the filtering of the sample.

The gravitational filtering occurs in stages:
-First: regolith dust and small particles are extracted.
-Second: rocks smaller than 10mm are filtered out.
-Third: rock samples between 10mm and 20mm are extracted.
-Fourth: any rock larger than 20mm will be filtered out.

The container is attached to a housing that is moved by means of a lead screw. By rotating the lead screw, the container is placed under the filter that is needed.

By doing so, the samples can be layered out and selected between dust regolith and rocks that meet the criteria.

The device is mounted on a robotic arm, which lifts the sample with the bucket and places itself horizontally for the filtering process.

The contrarotating filter and coil will filter and deposit the sample in layers as needed.
