A Materials Library designed for the Blender Internal renderer's Toon shading. The hope is that this matlib will be useful to those wanting to play around with a simple Toon look. It's fun! In my humble opinion...It's loosely based on an ancient toon matlib I stumbled onto somewhere, but almost everything has been changed and many new materials added. Of the 99 materials, only 3 are not purely procedural. Most are pretty simple - wearetalking about Toons here. However, there should be a basic color or texture for most needs. (Do you really need a 'mud' material if a glossy 'dark brown' works?)This library has been - I hope! - logically named so that material you need is easier to find while Blending. I have also tried to ensure that the materials are uniformly set up so they work better together. This should also make it easier to create your own materials compatible with these. Just check out what I've done, and go!There is also a matball included. It is of my own design, and is also CC0 - Public Domain, do what you wish with it. I prefer this design for several reasons:
1) Most matballs are beautiful, some are works of art. I don't want a beautiful matball. I just want a good look at materials. And a fast render time;
2) In addition to smooth, round surfaces, I like to see how materials behave on large flat surfaces, with sharp corners. Other matballs don't have these features;
3) Anyone who would evenconsiderrendering a material sample, withoutalsoincluding the name of the material in the render, should be shot. Or, at least, condemned to a minimum of one week of life without color or texture! Without the name - a good name - in the render, it is too easy to get things mixed up, especially when files pass through many hands, or when comparing many similar materials. (How many versions of 'leather' have you seen recently?)There are only six matballs in the file. (For rendering the first preview.) If I had left all of the matballs used for the previews, this .blend would be huge. The other previews are in the zip file for easy reference.Finally, this library is not finished - and I do not claim to be an expert. If you have suggestions for improvements, new additions, etc., please let me know. I intend to update this file from time to time, please help if you can!A thousand thanks to the talented authors of the original materials. Peace!
